Applied Physics at University und Technical University of Wroclaw (Breslau) from 1905-1945.

After a short introduction into the scene of action, the institutes and the main actors are introduced. They are Otto Lummer and Clemens Schaefer as well as Erich Waetzmann and Ludwig Bergmann as directors of the physical institute of the University and of the physical institute of theTechnical University, respectively. Typical examples of applied research are given together with an overview over monographs and textbooks, published there. They show the broad range and high standards of research having been done. By means of photographs and documents we get a very little insight into the social life within the institutes. A raid through the contemporary history leads to the end of the institutes in 1945.
