Abstract
A micro optical system to achieve high density Gigabit communication has been built. Using molded micro mirrors and micro couplers, the path from optical fiber to photo detector is miniaturised and the electrical conductors are brought into the optical substrate, so that an electrical and an optical interface are available in the system. We built an integrated low cost system, simplifying the transfer between electrical and optical signals that permits high density integration.
