Abstract
Gel - glass dispersed liquid crystal thin-film electrooptical devices were prepared via the sol-gel method. The control of both, the components of the host matrix and process involved, allow tailoring the final electroptical properties of the device. One of the most important parameters to be controlled during the manufacturing step is the final size distribution of the droplets inside the host matrix. These characteristics have been measured by means of light scattering. The experimental curves obtained have been correlated with respect to a physical model that describes the average properties of the microdroplets ensemble.
