Abstract

Planar structures made of dielectric material with regular matrix of holes or nanorods represent perspective photonic structures of 2D photonic crystals. Such photonic structures make possible the manipulation with the coupled light propagation. The method of angle resolved reflection spectra evaluation is usually used to obtain photonic single band gaps. To make the identification of resonant peaks of angular spectra more reliable we have proposed to measure azimuthal spectra at single wavelength. The photoelectric reading by azimuthal scanning provides traces of reflected light with considerably better resolving power then the standard angle resolved spectroscopy. The recorded spectra reliably visualize both the positions as well as shapes of resonant peaks and give us the possibility not only to map the photonic dispesion diaghram but also to determine equifrequency curves of photonic crystal structure.
