Abstract

The application of optical diagnostical methods of materials and structures for medical purposes is a long-term issue in a constantly growing field. Near field measurement proved to be a relatively quick and very reliable method for analysis of structural defects caused either by physical damage or chemical deterioration of materials. Converting this approach for the use with biological tissue is a natural step in its development. As a phantom of muscle tissue, one of the most distinct and predominant structure in a human body, serves paper with tubular structures mimicking muscle fibers and their non-linear optical properties. Local field analysis of photon behavior after encounter with celulosis fibre gives an indication of further possible uses for examination of muscle tissue.
