Abstract

Ultrasonic techniques are applied in many fields, such as ultrasound imaging, nondestructive testing, ultrasound cleaning, and ultrasound bonding. To analyze and optimize this process. It is desirable to have an understanding of ultrasound propagation behavior. Laser refracto-vibrometry (LRV) can be used for this purpose. It provides an intuitive image of the wave shape of ultrasound and stress or pressure distribution information. In this paper, the refracto-vibrometry is used to visualize ultrasound waves in transparent medium. The measured wavelength of ultrasound in solids matches to theoretical calculation. The stress distribution in solids verified also by the simulation. This measurement method is proved to be able to provide high spatial and temporal resolution of ultrasound wave analysis.
