Abstract

A novel approach for additive manufacturing centered on robot based multimaterial micro dispensing is developed and presented by means of a printed gradient-index lens. Focused on optical components, the System consists of a robot, two micro dispensing units, a linear stage and an Ultraviolet curing station. These components are controlled by a custom Python software. To Showcase the capabilities a gradient Index lens is printed and analyzed. Gradient index lenses allow refraction without curved surfaces by varying the local refractive index within the component. The used material is an acrylate polymer that is mixed with nanoparticles in order to change the refractive index of the material.
